The American Enterprise Institute is accepting applications for its exciting new program to identify and develop the next generation of leaders who share our commitment to free enterprise, individual liberty, and a strong national defense.
The Summer Institute will assemble a select group of Washington's top young professionals to learn from distinguished scholars, policymakers, and authors; to explore and debate ideas about liberty and free enterprise; and to build their network with other accomplished professionals.
We invite applications from Washington-based professionals, including those working in government, public policy, business, and media. Candidates for this competitive program should have at least two years of work experience. Up to 25 applicants will be accepted this summer.
We get you outside of the classroom for an engaging and provocative program unlike any other in Washington. Discuss movies and politics in relaxed evening symposia with AEI's most renowned fellows and scholars. Study one of America's most famous battles on site with defense experts and analysts.
Discussion seminars will be held weekly on varying week nights from June to July, kicking off Thursday, June 3 with Jonah Goldberg, editor-at-large of National Review and author of Liberal Fascism. Other speakers include:

Robert Kagan, author of Dangerous Nation and Of Paradise and Power, on The Godfather
A Staff Ride to Gettysburg
Take a trip to the Gettysburg battlefield for a guided tour of the site. Fellows will study and discuss military leadership, decision making, tactics, and strategy with AEI scholar Gary Schmitt.
All meetings will be held at AEI, and will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. Light dinner and refreshments will be served.
